Man dies while trying to protect his pregnant wife from falling tree at park

 

A young man of France, who was in the country on a work visa, has died
while trying to protect his wife from a falling tree, police in Canada
said. Toronto police said that the incident unfolded on Friday around 7:30 p.m. in Trinity Bellwoods Park.
Police said that 30-year-old victim and his pregnant wife are from
France, and both were in the country legally on work visas. According to
the police investigation, the man was sitting with his wife under the
tree when it began to wobble and fall.

He jumped to protect his wife from the falling tree when a branch hit him in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s wife, who was screaming “I’m pregnant,” was taken to the
hospital, and is expected to survive. City workers were called to the
park to assess the health of the remaining trees.
