5-year-old boy is devastated after police shot dog during his birthday party in front of friends

A young boy is devastated over the loss of his best friend, his dog Opie.

The five-year-old boy of Oklahoma, spent his fifth birthday mourning the
loss of his beloved dog after a police officer shot it with an assault
rifle.

Eli Malone and several of his friends were enjoying an outdoor birthday
party. His dog Opie was running around without a leash and was playing
with the children in a fenced yard.

While they went inside for birthday cake on Saturday, they heard a loud
noise. The children looked out the window and saw the officer firing
two more rounds, killing the dog.

Eli’s mother, Vickie Malone, said that her son, his brother and siblings
witnessed the dog taking its last breaths and bleeding to death.

Wynnewood Police Chief Ken Moore said that the shooting was justified
because the American Bulldog Pitbull mix tried to attack the officer.

However, a video from the family showed that the dog was inside the locked fence while the officer was on the other side.

The family also demanded to know why the officer was on their property.
The officer said that he came to serve a 10-year-old warrant and the
house was the last know address for the suspect.

The police chief allegedly admitted that he knew that the Malone family lived at the address since last year.
