Burglary suspect who used a ladder to break into home is found dead on the roof after being shot and killed by homeowner

A young man was killed after he tried to break into the home of an elderly couple to rob them, according to police in Georgia.

Police in Gwinnett County, said that 25-year-old Michael Silva, stole a ladder from the couple’s shed, leaned it against the home and climbed onto the roof.

He then opened the bathroom window in an attempt to get into the home.

However, the homeowners, Willie and Ann Wofford, woke up when they heard noise at 4:00 a.m. The husband grabbed his gun and went to see what was going on.

When he spotted the intruder, Willie shot him in the face. Silva died on the roof of the home. Police said that Silva lived about half a mile away from the home where he was killed.

Police were called to investigate the incident and they do not plan to charge the couple over the murder.

“It appears they are well within their rights of using deadly force to protect their home,” Corporal Deon Washington said.

Ann’s son, Michael Cargill, who owns a gun shop, said that he urged his elderly mother and his stepfather to learn how to use a gun to protect themselves and they agreed.
