Dead muddy cat brought to animal shelter by distraught person turns out to be hand puppet

An animal shelter in Guernsey, England, said that a would-be sad situation turned into laughter.
They explained that a very upset member of public arrived to the shelter with what was believed to be a dead cat.
The good Samaritan wrapped the cat in a blanket and placed it into a
box. The dead cat was then handed over to Guenrsey Society for
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA).

Manager Steve Byrne, who was on night duty, accepted the box.

As the box was opened and Byrne got a closer look, he realized that it
was not a cat, but a very muddy, wet and insect covered hand puppet
dog.

The solemn moment quickly turned to laughter. The puppet was cleaned and
washed, and the animal shelter shared the before and after photos on
Facebook.
