Homeowner kills drunk teenager who knocked on his door thinking that his friend lives there

A man is being held in prison without bail for killing a teenager who knocked on his door.

The man was charged with murder after shooting 15-year-old Dylan
Francisco, who knocked on his door by accident, thinking it was a
friend’s house.

Jeffrey Lovell, 42, of Chicopee, Massachusetts, was inside his home when
he heard knocks on his door at around 3:40 p.m. on Saturday.

Lovell got his gun and called police to report a robbery in progress as
he believed that teens were trying to break into his home.

Police said that Lovell tried to make contact the teenager through the
door, but when he heard a pane of glass break, he shot once through the
door, striking the teen in the abdomen.

It is unclear how the panel glass broke. Francisco later died in a hospital.

Police determined that the teenagers had been drinking before they
decided to visit a friend. They were confused and knocked at the wrong
house.

Lovell was arrested on a charge of murder, and he is being held without bail, according to the Chicopee Police Department.
