Chinese subways are a dangerous place to be. There’s always the chance you’ll get yelled at, peed on or punched. It’s also a favorite place for pickpockets to hang out and prey on unsuspecting foreigners.
However, one criminal obviously needs to work on his skills. In a
video that has been circulating around WeChat, a foreigner is seen
slapping a suspected thief hard in the head, not once but twice,
teaching him a brutal lesson.
“Don’t you ever do that! Don’t you fucking ever take my phone again,”
the laowai is heard telling the man between slaps in the 26 second long
clip. “I’ll take you to the police right now.”
A report published yesterday by the Daily Mail about the very same video alleges that the Chinese man had called the
“black tourist” a racial slur — “black devil” — and the laowai
took offense. No reputable Chinese news articles have been published
about the incident; however, considering the fact that the foreigner
threatens the man about stealing his phone and taking him to the police
(in English), this would seem to be unlikely.
No word on who the foreigner in the video is and if he’ll be punished for his vigilante justice.
