Carmelo Anthony passes Jordan on U.S. Olympic scoring list

Carmelo Anthony just keeps moving up the Team USA record charts.

With his three-pointer from the left wing at the 2:34 mark of the second quarter in Monday’s win against Venezuela, the New York Knicks star surpassed Michael Jordan for third place on the USA’s all-time Olympics scoring list. Anthony, whose decision to take part in these Games made him the first four-time men’s basketball Olympian, finished with 14 points in Team USA’s 113-69 blowout and thus eclipsed Jordan by two points (258 to 256).

Anthony could be the all-time leader by Wednesday, when the Americans face an Australia team that is also undefeated. Anthony will attempt to bridge the small gap between himself, second-place David Robinson (270 points in three appearances) and first-place LeBron James (273 in three appearances).
