Devastation as Miss World Australia contestant dies following horror crash

A teenage Miss World Australia contestant has died following a horror car crash.

Elyse Miller-Kennedy (17) was involved in the head-on collision in Far North Queensland last Wednesday night, August 3.
The young model was reportedly left trapped in her car for two hours after the horror crash.

Elyse was airlifted to Cairns hospital with severe head injuries but later passed away.
Police have launched an investigation into the crash.

A man and woman from France were in the other vehicle at the time of the incident.

Elyse was completing her Higher School Certificate and had plans to move interstate to pursue a modelling career.

Miss World Australia said they were “devastated to hear the tragic news”.
“Elyse will always be remembered for her beautiful soul, charismatic charm and kind heart. Elyse’s inner beauty truly exemplified her outer,” read a MWA Facebook post.

“Elyse will always be a shining light in the hearts of those who knew her. Our thoughts and prayers are with Elyse’s family and friends. Rest in Peace xx”
