Man arraigned for stealing chin-chin, groundnut oil

A 32-year old man identified as Martins Osinibo has been arraigned at the Oredo Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing a bag of chin-chin and 12 gallons of groundnut oil.

Osinibo allegedly committed the offense on August 18, at No 24, Forestry Road, Benin City, Edo State.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Thomas Ojo, told the court that the accused person unlawfully broke into shops owned by one Mr. Aliyu Haruna and Mrs. Ameh Ologbosere where he stole 12 gallons of groundnut oil valued N87, 000 and seven and a bag of chin -chin valued at N15, 000.

Inspector Ojo said the offense contravened sections 413, and 390(9) of the Criminal Code.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge filed against him.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Joyce Ejale, granted the accused person bail in the sum of N50, 000 with a surety in like sum.

The surety must be gainfully employed.

The case was adjourned to September 8 for hearing.
