At least 42 concertgoers in southern New Jersey were injured Friday when a security barrier collapsed at the latest stop on Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa’s High Road Tour.
The broken railing sent more than 50 people falling 10 feet onto a concrete pathway, that separated the lawn section from the seating area of Camden’s BB&T Pavilion, The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
According to the newspaper, at the time of the accident – which reportedly occurred shortly at 10 p.m. – fans were pushing forward to see the two rappers on the arena’s secondary stage.
“In one moment, just all of the people fell down,” eyewitness Leokas Strba told CBS Philadelphia
“I saw one guy who kept touching his head, and part of his face was open, ” Pedro Gomez explained to the news station.
Video of the accident quickly spread on social media, where Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa can be seen hyping up the crowd right before the collapse occurred. Dozens upon dozens then tumbled on top of each other.
“Okay, that’s enough of that,” one of the rappers can be heard telling someone offstage after the fall.
The two rappers were quickly ushered out of the area so security could help those injured, the video shows.
Concert organizers stopped the show after the accident to help those injured, eventually canceling the rest of the tour and clearing the pavilion.
Fire officials told CNN that most of the injures were minor.
County spokesman Dan Keashen told NBC Philadelphia that aside from the broken bones and bumps and bruises, one unnamed person was critically injured and taken to Cooper Trauma Center.
A triage area was set up next to the venue’s parking lot, the news network adds.
The BB&T Pavilion eats 25,000 people, its website says. It opened in 1995 as the Blockbuster-Sony Music Entertainment Center.
A show on Saturday night featuring Salt-N-Pepa and Vanilla Ice is expected to go on as planned, the stadium’s operators Live Nation told The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Reps for Snoop Dogg and Khalifa did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
