5-year-old boy dies after being splashed with hot water for 9 hours

A father was arrested after his son died after being burned with hot water for nine hours.

Police in Singapore, have charged the father with causing grievous harm by means of a heated substance.

The father is accused of splashing his son with hot water from 12:00 p.m. until 8:45 p.m.

The boy was eventually taken to a hospital. When doctors saw the wounds, they called the police to report the father for child abuse.

Sadly, the five-year-old boy did not make it. He died of his injuries at the KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital the next day.

The child’s 24-year-old father, who was not named for legal reasons, was arrested after it was determined that he tortured his young son and reportedly burned him with hot water over the course of the day.

The family lived on the tenth floor of an apartment building in Toa Payoh for two years.

The Ministry of Social and Family Development said that the victim’s three siblings were placed under temporary custody of Child Protective Service.

The father faces up to life in prison if found guilty of the charge.
