Lady Gaga to reportedly play Donatella Versace in third season of Ryan Murphy’s ‘American Crime Story’

Lady Gaga will reportedly play fashion designer Donatella Versace in the third season of “American Crime Story,” according to Us Weekly.

The upcoming season of the Ryan Murphy anthology will cover Gianni Versace’s murder in Miami Beach, based on Maureen Orth’s book “Vulgar Favors: Andrew Cunanan, Gianni Versace, and the Largest Failed Manhunt in U.S. History.”

The fashion house founder was shot in July 1997 on the steps of his mansion by Andrew Cunanan. He was the serial killer’s fifth and final victim.

“Versace/Cunanan” is expected be filming simultaneously as the second season, which is based on Hurricane Katrina.

Gaga, 30, and Donatella, 61, have walked multiple red carpets together, including the 2016 Met Gala.

A track on Gaga’s ARTPOP album is titled “Donatella,” for which the designer thanked her “for her geniality, creativity (and) incredible talent.”

The “Joanne” singer has appeared in the most recent seasons of Murphy’s “American Horror Story,” starring in “Hotel” and with a guest role in “Roanoke.”

She’ll also headline the 2017 Super Bowl halftime show and star in the “A Star Is Born” remake with Bradley Cooper.

The first season of “American Crime Story,” based on the O.J. Simpson murder trial, won nine Emmys, including Best Limited Series.
