Woman eats dinner at expensive hotel before jumping to her death because her credit card was declined

Police launched an investigation after a young woman jumped to her following a meal at an expensive restaurant, according to police in New York.

The New York Police Department said that 33-year-old Marodelle Prin of Queens, ate dinner at the Bookmarks Lounge on top of the Library Hotel on Madison Avenue, before jumping to her death early on Thursday morning.

According to the police investigation, Prin seemed calm when she ordered and ate dinner at the restaurant. When she ended her meal, she handed over her credit card to a waitress in order to pay for the food.

The card was declined. Prin then walked over to the edge of the roof and threatened to jump.

Employees tried to calm her down, but Prin wrote the numbers of her relatives on a piece of paper and jumped as police arrived at the scene.

She was taken to the Bellevue Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
