The chief of Gili, confirmed that the two 20-year-old tourists of Australia, who were not identified, were recorded on surveillance video stealing two bicycles from a popular vacation spot.

The police reviewed surveillance video footage, and were able to identify and arrest the two tourists.

After being questioned, the two suspects were forced to write “I am a thief” on cardboard boxes and wear them on their chests.

They were then paraded in the streets for several hours before they were forced to leave the city. Gili Chief Muhamad Taufik said that he does not know whether the police will pursue criminal charges against the suspects.

The main thing is that the two are no longer allowed in the city, Taufik added. Residents took photos of the two tourists and uploaded them on the Internet, where the images went viral.
