Angry man fatally stabs bar customer who tried to stop him from assaulting waitress

James Roberts and Aiden O’Mahony

A man took out his anger on an innocent man who tried to protect a waitress at a bar, according to police in the United Kingdom.

London police said that they have arrested 32-year-old James Roberts, after being accused of fatally stabbing 60-year-old Aiden O’Mahony.

Now, Roberts has been found guilty of murder by an Old Bailey jury. According to the criminal complaint, Roberts stabbed O’Mahony because he objected to him threatening a barmaid at the JJ Moons pub.

O’Mahony was watching a football match in a pub with friends when they were confronted for no reason by Roberts, who had been drinking and arguing at a nearby table with his father.

Witnesses at the scene said that Roberts was looking for someone to pick a fight with and threatened the waitress.

O’Mahony bravely spoke up when Roberts threatened the waitress, and in response, Roberts lunge at him with a knife.

Roberts claimed that he felt in fear of his life in that moment and that he had used the fishing knife to protect himself. The jury ruled that this claim was a desperate and obvious lie to escape the truth that he had murdered O’Mahony.

He is now facing a life in prison
