Police in China, have launched an investigation after receiving a tip of an elderly woman being kept in a cage.
Shocking videos show the 92-year-old great-grandmother forced to live in a dirty cage for years by her own son and daughter-in-law.
The video shows the woman of Guangxi Province, living in a 100 square foot cold room that was made out of cinder blocks without a door. Instead of a door, the family installed iron bars to keep her from escaping.
The cold room was empty except from one wooden bed and a thin blanket. The elderly woman was frail and malnourished.
According to the great-grandmother, she had been kept in the locked cage for several years and she had not been given enough food or clothing.
The great-grandmother was rescued and was taken to a hospital, where she is being treated.
The son and daughter-in-law were initially questioned by the Fengshan County Administration Office. However, officials reported that they had a bad attitude and they did not cooperate.
Officials then reported the case to the local government, which immediately began an investigation and rescued the woman.
The couple is facing a number of charges including elder abuse.
