Two killed after collapse of building in Istanbul

Two people were killed and at least five people were injured due to collapse of a seven-storey building in the Zeytinburnu district of Istanbul on Jan. 13,  Doğan News Agency has reported.

A number of ambulances and firefighters were dispatched to the area following to the incident.
The two injured people were taken to hospital.

Emergency services are trying to determine whether there are any other people under the rubble.

The 56-apartment building was abandoned after the demolition decision was taken two years ago, Ali Taskin Balaban sub-governor of the district said.      
       
The water, electricity and natural gas flows in the region were cut off while the teams are investigating if anyone is under the wreckage.    
       
Istanbul Fire Department is also carrying out debris removal works with 17 vehicles and 55 personnel in the region.
