An elderly woman of Mexico, realised her dream of having children by giving birth to healthy twins, a boy and a girl, according to doctors.
Both Victoria Maria and her brother Victor Manuel were born after 33 weeks of pregnancy.
The 58-year-old married woman was observed at the IMSS Regional General Hospital in Culiacan, Sinaloa, for more than a month before giving birth through Cesarean section.
She got pregnant after getting IVF treatments. Victoria weighed 4 pounds and 3 ounces at birth, while Victor weighing just 4 pounds and 1 ounce.
The babies spent three weeks at the neonatal intensive care unit at the hospital before being discharged with their mother.
All three are said to be in good health. The mother revealed that during the Cesarean section procedure she prayed until she heard her babies cry.
Once she heard both her boy and girl cry, she was very pleased as she realized that the procedure was a success.
Due to the risky characteristics of pregnancy, the patient was attended by specialists in gynecology, obstetrics, perinatology and pediatrics, to keep an eye on her health status and to detect any possibility of bleeding, which could have been fatal for her and for the infants, the hospital said in a statement.
Victoria Maria and her brother Victor Manuel were born two minutes apart.
