Osun beef up security ahead of final judgement on guber poll

The Osun police command says security has been beefed up in the state to prevent any breakdown of law and order ahead of supreme court judgment on the 2018 governorship election in the state.

Folashade Odoro, the command’s spokesperson, told NAN that the police are fully prepared for the outcome.

“Officers have been placed on red alert and are pro-active to prevent any kind of violence or demonstration in the state,” she said.

“We will, however, want to urge people of the state to maintain law and order and go about their lawful businesses without fear or intimidation.”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Ademola Adeleke, its candidate, had challenged the victory of Gboyega Oyetola, the incumbent governor, in the election.

The tribunal had ruled that Adeleke defeated Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election but the appeal court reversed the ruling.

The case, however, moved to the supreme court. The court had earlier fixed Friday for final judgement.
