NAF holds one-day medical outreach for host communities in Taraba

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) 23 Quick Response Wing (23 QRW) Gembu, Taraba State, has conducted a one-day medical outreach to cater for the healthcare needs of host communities. 

The medical outreach, which was held yesterday, 30 October 2019, to commemorate this year’s NAF Hypertension Education Day, took place in front of the Sardauna Traditional Council Office in Gembu and witnessed a large turnout of members of the community including the Paramount Chief of Mambilla, Dr. Shehu Audu Baju II, who was represented by Alhaji Yerima Mohammed Mansur, Hakimin Gembu, as well as a representative of the Chairman of Sardauna Local Government Area.

The outreach was preceded by an Awareness Lecture on hypertension, delivered by the Officer Commanding 23 QRW Medical Centre Flying Officer Jeffrey Maduku.

The lecture gave an overview of the causes of the disease while highlighting the risk factors, clinical presentations, management and prevention. Adults aged 30 years and above were screened for hypertension during the exercise, with incidences observed promptly managed.

While making his remarks at the end of the outreach, the representative of the Chief of Mambilla expressed his profound appreciation to the NAF for the gesture and pledged the commitment of the Community to continue to support the activities of the NAF on the Mambila Plateau.
