Benue Guber: Appeal court affirms Governor Ortom’s election

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja Thursday 28, October affirmed the victory of Samuel Ortom as governor of Benue state.

The appeal was filed by the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its candidate, Hon Emmanuel against the judgment of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which had upheld the election of Ortom.

The appellants asked the appellate court to void the election of Ortom on grounds that the election was not done in accordance with the electoral laws and that He won the election with majority the lawful votes.

In a unanimous judgment, the panel presided by Hon Justice A.O. Belgore dismissed the appeal APC) for lack of merit and upheld the judgment of the lower tribunal.

In addition, a cost of N150000 was awarded against the appellant.
