COVID-19 PTF briefs Reps on Kano mass death

Members of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 are briefing the House of Representatives on reasons for the mysterious deaths in Kano.

The House last Tuesday  summoned the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID -19, Boss Mustapha, the Minister for Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire and the Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu over the recent inexplicable deaths in Kano State.

The House initially resolved that  those invited were to engage with relevant committees of the House on the issue to  give insight into the immediate and remote causes of the mysterious deaths in the state and other places.

But it appears that the PTF is to brief the whole House as they have been ushered into the chamber via a motion by the leader of the House, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa.

Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila explained to the members of the Presidential Task Force that the unexplained deaths in Kano and other places led to the invitation of the Committee.

According to him the interaction will be brief, though other ‘tangential” questions to clear the air on the events may be asked.
