Ewi of Ado-Ekiti debunks illness rumour

The Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe Aladesanmi has debunked rumour making round the state that he was laid up with a life-threatening ailment.

There have been insinuation since last week that Oba Adejugbe was battling with alleged chronic illness triggered by the closure of Oja’ ba market, which many believed was contrary to the age-long customs and traditions of the ancient town.

The popular market had been shut down by the Ekiti State government since the outbreak of Covid-19 to contain the spread of the pandemic.

The first class monarch, in a statement personally signed in Ado-Ekiti, on Tuesday said he is hale and hearty, urging the people to disregard what he described as fictitious and outright falsehood.

“My attention has been drawn to rumour milling round that I am battling with health challenges. The malicious report is nothing but a tissue of lies and figment of imagination of mischief makers.

“Why are people spreading negative rumour about my health status, when I am right here hale and hearty at the palace. God has been so faithful to me, my family and Ado Ekiti in general.”

Oba Adejugbe called on the people to dissipate their energy in supporting various government efforts to surmount the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the country rather than peddling falsehood.
