Fasting continues on Saturday, says NSCIA

Muslims are to continue fasting on Saturday, The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has declared.

Its National Moon Sighting Committee said no moon was sighted in Nigeria on Friday.

The committee tweeted on Friday: “There was no positive sighting report of the Shawwal crescent in Nigeria, tomorrow is 30th Ramadan. An official statement from the Sultanate will be released shortly.”

The Nation reports several Muslims were already prepared to celebrate Eid-el-Fitri on Saturday.

The announcement by NSCIA means Ramadan fast will extend to 30 days in 2020.
