Many killed as gunmen attack three villages in Plateau State

Gunmen suspected to be terrorists on Sunday afternoon attacked three villages in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State, North-Central Nigeria reportedly killing several people and setting many houses ablaze.

The villages attacked include Kukawa, Gyanbahu, Dungur and Keram and are said to be bordering Yankari Game Reserve in Bauchi State and also Gombe State.
A source within the affected communities, Ventim Bako told newmen that the gunmen invaded the communities on Sunday afternoon at about 2pm and began shooting sporadically when residents of the areas were going about their normal activities.
Bako added, that the bandits have burnt down many houses with many injured while hundreds of people have fled their homes, adding that security personnel are yet to reach the villages.
When contacted, apokesperson for the Special Task Force Operation Safe Haven Major Ishaku Takwa confirmed the attack and said soldiers are already on their way to the affected communities.
