African national arrested for traffic accident, drugs appears in court

The suspect, who was found to have drugs in his car after the traffic accident in Ozanköy, will be detained for 3 days as part of the investigation.

Percy Chimezie Opara (M-29), the suspect who had an accident with his unregistered Smart model TR 180 license plate vehicle at the entrance of the Ozanköy Molasses Festival in Ozanköy, was arrested and brought before the court after drug substance was found in the bill.

Police officer Mert Gültuna, who testified in the court regarding the issue, conveyed the findings about the incident.

A substance weighing approximately 1 gram was found on the driver’s side of seat during the search of the suspect Percy Chimezie Opara’s vehicle, which had an accident with his unregistered Smart model TR 180 plate vehicle at the entrance of the Ozanköy Molasses Festival in Ozanköy at 23.30 hours on Saturday, 27 August.

He said that the substance believed to be a drug was found and there was an indication.

The police conveyed to the court that the suspect was caught red-handed and confessed in his verbal statement that he had purchased the substance in question in 2022 for 2 thousand TL in exchange for 2 grams.

Police officer Mert Gültuna stated that the investigation initiated regarding the issue was new, statements to be taken, and that he was a wanted person, and that the narcotic substance, which was taken as a sign, would be sent for analysis, and demanded that the suspect be detained in the police for 3 days for investigation purposes.

Evaluating the testimony given in his presence, Judge Zehra Y. Bilgeç ordered the suspect to be kept in police custody for 3 days for the purpose of investigation.
