Court remands suspect arrested for causing African national grave bodily harm

The suspect, Muhammed Tapınç, who was tried on the grounds that he severely battered the person he was staying with in the same house and stuck a piercing tool in his right eye during the fight that broke out over the transportation of goods, was ordered to remain in prison as an unsuccessful prisoner.

Police said that the injured Boris Ndip Takang lost his eyesight.

Two suspects, who were arrested for serious injury and grave damage in Nicosia, were brought before the court. Hasan Tapınç, who was arrested in connection with the issue was released as his connection to the incident was not found, and Muhammed Tapınç was ordered to remain under arrest.

Police sergeant Hüseyin Ergüleç, who gave information at the court, stated that the suspect Muhammed Tapınç was on trial for the crimes of serious injury, grave damage, and serious injury that occurred in Nicosia.

As a result of the argument between the suspect 1 Muhammed Tapınç about transporting goods to the apartment located in Nicosia on 15 August, he hit the resident Boris Ndip Takang with his fist in the face, seriously battering the named person, causing him to lose his sight in his right eye and causing grave bodily harm.

Stating that the suspect Muhammed Tapınç was detected and arrested while he was trying to escape from Ercan Airport on 16 August, the Police said that the matter was serious, that the complainant was stuck with a penetrating device and that the investigation was completed, and demanded his pretrial detention. 

Prisoner to be tried

Evaluating the testimony given in his presence, Judge Hazal Hacımulla ordered the suspect to be held in prison for a period not exceeding one month.
