The suspect SK, who was found to have committed the crimes of importing, saving, carrying and illegally carrying knives in the Public Security and Traffic Operation carried out by the police in Güzelyurt, was arrested and brought before the court.
He stated that as a result of the further investigation, it was determined that the suspect had imported the said mechanism and capsules from Southern Cyprus on August 25, 2022, while he was entering the TRNC from the Metehan Border Gate.
Pointing out that the suspect was arrested due to his red-handed state, Karahüseyin said that he did not give any voluntary testimony, and that in response to a legal warning, he bought the subject mechanism and capsules from Paphos for 50 Euros to train his dogs.
Police officer Orçun Karahüseyin pointed out that a ballistic examination is expected to determine whether the capsule detonation mechanism, which was seized as evidence, is a firearm and whether 10 live capsules are explosive materials, and said that an investigation will also be carried out on the sounds of explosions in the region.
Karahüseyin emphasized that if the suspect was released, it could have a negative impact on the investigation and could evade the trial.
Judge Temay Sağer evaluated the testimony given in his presence and ordered the suspect to be detained in the police for 3 days for investigation purposes.
