Water supply from Turkey to TRNC agricultural area continues

It has been learned that the process regarding the Meserya leg has accelerated while the work on connecting the water coming from Turkey to Güzelyurt continues.

Efforts are underway to use water, which is an important part of the water supply project from Turkey to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), in agricultural area.

In this regard, postponement and infrastructure issues and problems have been on the agenda for years and the legs of the project are delayed because of this.

With the project, Güzelyurt and Mesarya plains will meet with water.

With the TRNC meeting with water from Turkey, it is aimed to increase diversity and productivity in agriculture.

It has been learned that the process regarding the Meserya leg has gained momentum while the work on connecting the water coming from Turkey to Güzelyurt continues.

TECHNICAL TEAM FROM DSI CAME TO OUR COUNTRY

The tender process for the Meserya leg is starting for the transport of water to the region, the project of which was completed about seven years ago.

It has been learned that a team from the Turkish State Hydraulic Works (DSI), where technical studies on the subject will accelerate, came to our country for technical work.

In December 2021, within the scope of TRNC Central Mesarya Plain Irrigation; in order to irrigate an area of ​​18,730 decares in the Güzelyurt Plain, the 1st section of the 48.020,72 m transmission pipe of the Orta Mesarya Plain Irrigation is 3.850, in order to transmit water to the existing Serhatköy-Kumköy Transmission Line with a 2500 mm diameter steel pipe and to feed the 20.000 m3 Kumköy reservoir. A contract was signed for the construction of m2 and the related works of art.

It was announced that the project was aimed to be completed by 31.03.2023.
