Court remand African national arrested in possession of illegal drugs

The suspect Princewill Ogochukwu Ohanusi, who was arrested for the crimes of buying and giving drugs in Nicosia, was brought before the court.

The police officer İnrahim Dust, who testified in the court regarding the issue, conveyed the findings about the incident.

İnrahim said that the suspect Princewill Ogochukwu Ohanusi, who was present, was involved in the crimes of “Importing, Saving and Giving Illegal Drugs Cannabis”.

The police said that on September 2, 2022, at around 15.00, on Üsküdar Street, a police team working in the PGM-Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention Directorate detected a suspicious act, and in the control carried out on it, a substance believed to be a Cannabis type drug weighing about 1 gram was found in his possession, and he was arrested red-handed.

The police stated that during the search conducted at his residence with a court order between 18:10 and 18:20, there was a substance believed to be a Cannabis type narcotic with a total weight of 65 grams, 11 packages of which were ready for sale, and it was taken as an indication.

Police officer Kağan Kurtbir told the court that when the suspect was asked for an explanation, he admitted to the court that he had bought 70 grams of the said substances on August 26 and sold 3 packages of these packages for 3 thousand TL.

The police demanded that the investigation was completed regarding the issue and that the suspect was on student status and to be put on trial.

Evaluating the testimony given in his presence, Judge Hazal Hacılulla ordered the suspect to be held in prison for a period of not more than 2 months.
