Mandatory mask in schools lifted – Gürçağ Altuğra

Health Minister Altuğra said that due to the decrease in weekly coronavirus cases, they will turn the decision to wear masks in closed environments, including schools, into a recommendation.

Minister of Health Monitoring Gürçağ Altuğra visited Famagusta State Hospital and received information from the officials.

Noting that according to the coronavirus figures, the fight against the disease has regressed from the orange category to the yellow category.

Minister Altuğra noted that the obligation to wear masks in hospitals, prisons and elderly care homes will continue.

Minister Aktuğra visited Famagusta State Hospital today, met with Chief Physician Mustafa Kalfaoğlu, and made examinations in the operating room and wards.

In a statement made during her visit, Minister Altuğra noted that Chief Physician Mustafa Kalfaoğlu, together with his staff, provides excellent service to patients in Famagusta State Hospital, which she sees as bright.

Altuğra expressed her satisfaction to observe that all kinds of health services are provided with the latest technological devices and stated that the routine renovations in the operating room were also successfully completed.

Noting that Famagusta State Hospital provides services to the public with 48 physicians and 136 nurses.

Altuğra also announced a new development in the hospital.

Minister Altuğra said, Famagusta patients can call the number 1101 to get hospital services from the doctors in Famagusta State Hospital.

Altuğra stated that as of today, the line numbered 1101 has also started to serve for Famagusta State Hospital, and that after the transition period, the system will be fully operational on 1 October.

Minister of Health Gürçağ Altuğra, in her response to a follow-up question about the obligation to wear a mask, noted that they have updated the rules for wearing masks according to the course of the coronavirus epidemic.

Stating that they shared the number of cases with the public on a weekly basis. Altuğra stated that in the light of last week’s figures, the course of the epidemic was in the orange category, which brought the obligation to wear a mask.

She said they will publish it as a decision.

Noting that the obligation to wear masks continues in areas such as hospitals, prisons and elderly care homes.

Altuğra stated that since the number of cases in other areas is in the yellow band, the obligation to use masks will be in the form of advice.

Famagusta State Hospital Chief Physician Dr. Mustafa Kalfaoğlu stated that Minister Altuğra made her first visit to the hospital and noted that they provided information to Minister Altuğra about the working system and current situation of the hospital and informed them of their needs.

Emphasizing that Famagusta State Hospital is a hospital that provides tertiary healthcare services, Kalfaoğlu stated that their biggest shortcoming is angiography.

Kalfaoğlu stated that they provide full services in the intensive care, operating room, polyclinic and added that they provide emergency service to 300 patients a day in the emergency department.

Undersecretary Deren Oygar accompanied Minister Altuğra during her examinations.
