Strike will be held in three schools on Monday – Ahmet Serdaroğlu

President of the Public Workers Union (Kamu-İş) Ahmet Serdaroğlu stated that the mobbing and threats against the members working as janitors at schools continue, and announced that they will hold a warning strike at three schools on Monday.

Announcing that they had decided to strike at Değirmenlik High School, 20 July Science High School and Gönyeli Primary School in Nicosia.

Serdaroğlu criticized the Ministry of National Education and the government for being “insensitive,” and said, “Let them know that we cannot stand by as a bystander to the exploitation of labor initiated by the Ministry of National Education and the government.”

Serdaroğlu, in his written statement, said, “If the government continues to remain insensitive to this warning made to ensure labor peace as soon as possible and remain a spectator to those who mob the employees, our actions will expand and reflect on all schools across the island. Our union is not responsible for the grievances that may occur in this regard. All responsibility belongs to the Ministry of Education and the government. It will be announced to the public,” he said.
