Traffic accident on Famagusta-Iskele main road, two pedestrians injured

On the main road of Famagusta-Iskele, 2 people were injured as pedestrians on the road during the traffic jam that took place yesterday evening.

While the treatment of the injured continued, the drivers of the two vehicles that were thought to have caused the accident were arrested.

According to the statement made by the Police Press Officer, yesterday at around 23.15, on the main road of Famagusta-Iskele, the vehicle with license plate EJ 023 under the direction of Barış Sungur (M-21) came to the front of the Lions Garden Wedding Hall while driving towards the south.

As a result of his carelessness, the vehicle with license plate EJ 023 hit the right rear part of the vehicle with license plate RS 256, which was left parked by Baydur Göray (M-61) on the left of the road at that time.

The vehicle with license plate EJ 023, which was thrown to the right uncontrollably due to the impact of the collision, also hit the left rear part of the vehicle LT 148 under the direction of Şerif Umut Giritten (M-40), which was traveling in the same direction under the influence of 85mg alcoholic beverages

The vehicle with license plate LT 148, which was thrown uncontrollably to the left due to the impact of the collision, first hit the pavement, and then the pedestrian Gülünay Bozbay (F-56) and the pedestrian Eliz Karaman (F-36), who were standing on the sidewalk at that time.

Pedestrian Eliz Karaman, who was seriously injured as a result of the accident was taken to Nicosia, observed in Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital with the diagnosis of spinal cord fracture.

Gülünay Bozbay was taken to Famagusta State Hospital and was observed in the surgical service with the diagnosis of right rib fractures and right shoulder fracture.

The driver of the vehicle with license plate EJ 023 Barış Sungur and the driver of vehicle with license plate LT 148 Şerif Umut Giritten were arrested.

The investigation into the matter continues.
