The bad smell, which dominates Nicosia and is also on the agenda in social media, annoyed the citizens.
Expressing that they are working hard to determine the source of the odor, NTM Director Fikri Özgüvenli said, “We are trying to find the source.There is a fertilizer issue that comes up every year, we are investigating whether it is related to it. We suspect this situation.”
Saying, “The source of the smell is not the municipality,” Özgüvenli explained that in his first determinations, the smell is a situation that can be felt up to the Gönyeli circle.
Stating that many complaints were made to the municipality, Özgüvenli said, “We are trying to find the source. It happens at similar times every year, but we cannot give a clear answer. An announcement will be made when a definitive determination is made.”
The smell of manure from the farms? As it will be remembered, it was stated that the bad odor that came to the agenda in recent years, almost at the same time, was the smell of manure coming out of their farms, which affected the capital Nicosia and its environs, especially the Yılmazköy, Alayköy and Gönyeli regions.
As the bad smell becomes unbearable, Gönyeli and Nicosia Municipality take action every year, and Okan Hacıali, one of the directors of Hacıali Ltd., which has been the target of criticism, stated that they were very uncomfortable with the situation by arguing that they had not left a door to prevent it for years.
