Suspect arrested for counterfeit banknotes arraigned

The suspect, who was found to have put counterfeit US Dollar banknotes into circulation, was given a 2-day detention order as part of the investigation by the court.

The suspect Umut Can, who was arrested on charges of Saving Counterfeit Money, Circulating Counterfeit Money and Procuring Goods by Fraud, was brought before the lower court.

Police officer Ortunç Özbaylı, who testified in the court regarding the issue, conveyed the findings about the incident. Özbaylı handed over US$ 1150, believed to be fake, that the suspect Umut Can Alt had in his possession to a resident A.U.

He said that he committed the crime of fraudulently procuring goods by purchasing the Phone 13 Pro Max brand mobile phone. He stated that the suspect was arrested pursuant to a court order after it was understood that the money was fake, and the mobile phone in question and 1150 US Dollars were seized as evidence.

After the arrest of the suspect, the police stated that he had voluntarily given a statement and declared that he had received the money from a wanted person to buy the phone, and that the subject person was also declared the wanted person. He demanded that he will kept in police custody for a day.

Evaluating the testimony given in his presence, Senior Judge Rauf Kürşad ordered the suspect to be detained in police custody for 2 days for investigation purposes.
