The Management of Ajayi Crowther University has taken decisive action following a tragic incident of jungle justice that resulted in the loss of a student’s life.

In a statement released over the weekend, the university clarified that the incident was not related to any cult activity, as speculated on social media, but rather stemmed from a case of jungle justice involving a student accused of stealing a mobile phone.

The institution emphasized its commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of antisocial behavior and misconduct, including cultism. The expelled students were not affiliated with any cult group, according to the university’s clarification.

The unfortunate death occurred when the expelled students, instead of reporting the alleged theft to the university management, took matters into their own hands and resorted to vigilante justice. This reckless action resulted in the loss of life.

While the university did not disclose the number of students involved or those apprehended, it assured the public that justice would be served. Furthermore, the university cooperated with law enforcement authorities by handing over the suspects to the police.

The Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, Adewale Oyefeso, confirmed that the university had surrendered suspects to the police, who are currently in custody. He also stated that investigations into the matter have commenced, indicating a commitment to ensuring accountability and justice for the tragic incident.
