Suspect arrested in possession of unlawful firearms, explosives awaits trial

The suspect İ.F., who was arrested in relation to the “unlawful possession of firearms” and “unlawful possession of explosives” that took place in Nicosia, was brought before the court again, and was sent to prison as an invalid for a period not exceeding one month.

Police officer Ali Gencer, who reported the incident in court, stated that on August 29, a search carried out by the teams of the Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention Directorate at the workplace named Rex Oto found a pistol and 8 bullets under the mattress of the bed in the dormitory of the workplace.

The police stated that the investigation was completed and the suspect had no legal status and demanded that he be put on trial. 

The suspect’s lawyer, Sedef Özzafer, objected to her client’s pre-trial detention.

Evaluating the testimony given in his presence, Judge Hazal Hacımulla ordered the suspect to wait in prison for a period not exceeding 1 month, in order to be ready for his trial.
