The idea of opening up rural communities and connecting the hinterland with the urban centres in Akwa Ibom state has seen Governor Udom Emmanuel constructing the 9.5KM road network from the East – West Road to the Qua River with a Spur to Ikot Ebekpo and Abat the Onna local government area headquarters.

Ikot Ebidang is a farming area that is rich in Rice and Cassava cultivation. However this did not matter much as the poor road network, denied accessibility to the area, reducing the value of its produce and hindering economic growth.

Suddenly, the swampy road that hindered the farming communities in that area, has become an expressway, provoking celebrations by the indigenes who can no longer hold their emotions.

The significant aspect of this major breakthrough, is the confidence the Governor has in local contractors, such as Benest Technical Services, BTS, for the construction of the Jetty project.

Watch the reactions by INDIGENES to the new Jetty, which has now opened the state further to water transportation.
