The leader of a black outreach group in the United Kingdom, is extremely disappointed after being shot by police who mistook him for a criminal.

63-year-old Judah Adunbi of Bristol, said that he cannot understand why police shot him with a Taser when he tried to enter his home.

Adunbi is the founding member of the Independent Advisory Group, which was established by the police to improve relations between the black community and the police.

Chief Superintendent Jon Reilly said: “After reviewing what happened, we voluntarily referred a complaint about this incident to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

“Although we don’t have to refer an incident in which a Taser has been discharged to the IPCC, we want to be as open and transparent as possible.

“I’ve met with Mr. Adunbi and we had a constructive conversation.

“We’re aware of concerns within the black community and we take this very seriously. We would like to answer their questions, but we need to be mindful that an investigation is ongoing which makes that difficult.

“However, I would like to reassure them that the incident was captured on the officers’ body worn video cameras.”

According to witnesses at the scene, Adunbi was approached by officers near his home on Saturday. The officers asked him to identify himself, but he refused.

Adunbi kept walking and reached the front door of his property.

One of the officers then pulled out a Taser and shot him in the face. A neighbor told police that Adunbi lived in the neighborhood.

After the Taser was fired and Adunbi was on the ground, the neighbor continued to convince the police that they stopped the wrong man.

However, police claim that Adunbi was resisting. The video of the attack was uploaded to YouTube, where it went viral.
