A total of 18 Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants have been killed in air strikes conducted by the Turkish warplanes in Syria, the Turkish Armed Forces announced on Nov. 12.

The military said the Turkish air strikes were conducted against targets in the west of Salva as a part of the Euphrates Shield operation on its 81st day.

18 ISIL militants were killed in the air strikes as two buildings, two command centers and one vehicle were also destroyed, according to the military.

In addition, another 10 ISIL militants were killed in six air strikes conducted by the U.S.-led coalition warplanes in Salva and Shuvayhat Sadir regions, the military said.

Three buildings and one armed vehicle were also destroyed in the air strikes.

Meanwhile, five ISIL militants were killed and five Turkey-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) opposition fighters were ‘martyred’ in Al-Rai region, the statement said.

Almost 1,600 square kilometers (617 square miles) of land in northern Syria have been cleared of ISIL militants as a part of the operation which was launched in August.

In the last four days, FSA fighters arrived within eight kilometers (five miles) of the Al-Bab district, in Syria’s Aleppo province.

FSA fighters took control of five villages in Mare, northwest of Al-Bab, and Manbij, east of Al-Bab.

Just over 1,500 improvised grenades and 36 mines have also been destroyed since the operation was launched, the military added.
