A boy lost his life during a crash involving a police car, which was pursuing another driver.
The family of 11-year-old Adan Hilario, Jr. of Texas, was driving home
from dinner when they collided with a police officer who allegedly ran a
red light while pursuing a suspect.

Police said that Patton Village police sergeant Stacey Baumgartner, was
called to a gas station on a report that a man was urinating in public.

When the officer arrived to the gas station at Highway 242 and US 59, he
found William Nee, who was accused of urinating in public and exposing
himself.

Nee jumped into his car and allegedly nearly ran over the officer as he fled from the gas station.

The officer began chasing Nee. During the high-speed chase, Nee ran a
red light. Officer Baumgartner allegedly followed him. As the officer
drove into the intersection, his car was T-boned by Hilario’s family.

The impact killed officer Baumgartner, who is a married father of two
children, and the 11-year-old boy. Six of the boy’s family members were
injured and they are in the hospital.

After the car crash, Nee came back to the scene and turned himself in to
police. He was charged with intoxicated manslaughter and intoxicated
assault. His bond was set at $1.3 million.

Both families set up GoFundMe pages seeking $50,000.

So far, officer Baumgartner’s family received $14,595 of their gaol and Adan Hilario’s family received only $2,645 of the goal.
