The Health and Social Care Inspectorate in Sweden, launched an investigation after a woman in labor lost her unborn baby.

In September, the 35-year-old woman arrived at the Skane University Hospital in Lund, to begin the induction of labor.

She was told to return the next day, so she could be induced.

The decision was made because there was no room available for the woman.

The woman was sent home despite showing signs of preeclampsia, which may have contributed to the death of the unborn baby.

On her way home, she began experiencing headaches and contacted the
hospital, but she was told to wait until she has regular contractions.

When she returned the next day, her unborn child was dead.

The hospital admitted that the incident would probably have had a different outcome if the woman had been allowed to stay.

The hospital also noted that the number of rooms in the maternity department will be expanded in the near future.

A spokesperson for the hospital apologized to the mother and her family.
