The parents of a newborn baby in Spain, were told that they cannot name their son Wolf as it is offensive.

Ignacio and Maria Javierre had a baby boy at the Hospital de Fuenlabrada, Madrid, on Tuesday.

They filled out the paperwork for the birth certificate, and decided to name their boy “Lobo,” which translates to wolf in English.

The parents claim that Wolf is a gorgeous name, and is equivalent to Lion or Dove.

However, the Registry of Fuenlabrada, notified the parents that they will not accept Wolf as the child’s first name because it might be offensive to the boy.

When the parents asked why they consider Wolf offensive, a spokesperson told them that since Wolf is a last name in the country, it cannot be used as a first name.

The parents rejected the reason because there are many names in the country that are used as first and last names.

The couple has launched a petition on change.org, hoping to collect enough signatures to convince the registry to allow them to name their son Wolf.

After collecting more than 20,000 signatures, a government official notified the parents that they will be allowed to name their son Wolf.
