Selena Gomez taking break to deal with depression, anxiety

Pop star Selena Gomez will take a break from the spotlight to deal with “anxiety, panic attacks and depression.”

A year after revealing her Lupus diagnosis, the songstress announced on Tuesday that she will take time off to deal with the side effects of the illness.

“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off,” she told People magazine.

“I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues,” she continued.

The 24-year-old singer has been busy trekking across the world for her Revival world tour which kicked off in May and it’s unclear if she will reschedule pending dates on the tour.

A source close to the hit maker told the magazine that Gomez “decided to clear her calendar for the year in order to have this be her priority for future happiness.”

“She feels relieved that she can now make more sense of why she was feeling the way she was and is optimistic about the future,” the source continued.

The insider stressed the time out is “absolutely not related to alcohol or substance abuse” but because the crooner “hadn’t felt like herself” for months.
