Thieves use car to break glass doors of phone shop and steal 100 iPhones

Three men were arrested on a charge of theft after allegedly using a car to break the glass doors of a phone shop and stealing 100 iPhones, according to police in Japan.

Wakayama police said that they have arrested 39-year-old Kenji Kido, after being accused of leading a gang of phone thieves who stole $100,000 worth of iPhones from a shop in the city.

According to the police investigation, Kido and two other thieves backed their car into the glass doors of the AU phone shop in order to gain access to the phones.

The three then collected 100 iPhones, and fled from the scene.

Police are still looking for the two other suspects who remain at large. Kido has a long criminal history, police said. Last month, Kido allegedly stole 20 phones from a shop in Kainan.

Earlier this year, Kido was accused of being behind several break-ins in Wakayama.
