Three friends were arrested in connection with the death of a young man following a drug overdose, according to police in Pennsylvania.

Lackawanna County police said that they have arrested 19-year-old Preston Layfield, 22-year-old Tyler Mirabelli, and 20-year-old Amanda Wayda, following the death of 21-year-old Joshua Rose.

They were all charged with aggravated assault and conspiracy.

According to the police investigation, the three friends are accused of strangling Rose, following a possible heroin overdose on Thursday.

The suspects then dressed the victim in sunglasses and a hat so nobody would recognize his, and drove around with the body for some time.

They also stopped at a service station to get gas for their car.

The three suspects then threw his body over an embankment on Interstate 81.

During questioning, the suspects told investigators that instead of taking Rise to the hospital, they decided to place a plastic bag over his head and strangled him with jumper cables.
