A man was arrested after he was caught starting several forest fires to get attention.

The aspiring weatherman started the fires and then reported the dangerous conditions from the scenes in a desperate attempt to lure fans to his Facebook page.

Johnny Mullins started a fire in Jenkins, Kentucky, while other fires raged across the region.

While he reported the dangerous conditions from the scenes, helicopters were heard flying overhead, dumping water to put out some of the fires that had already taken hold.

Mullins then uploaded the videos to Facebook, some of which have received thousands of views.

Mullins was arrested after investigators determined that he was the one who started the fires.

Mullins said that he started the fires because he liked the attention they brought him, according to the Jenkins Police Department.

Jenkins Police Department Chief James Stephens said that Mullins “is not a bad kid, he’s just misguided.”

“He likes to do Facebook videos and have people follow him on his weather forecasts so that is pretty much why he did what he did. He enjoyed the attention he got from the Facebook stuff.

“He didn’t realize how much danger he was putting other people in,” Stephens said.

Mullins was charged with second-degree arson.
