Meningitis: Defence Minister donates vaccines to Zamfara

The Minister of Defence, Brigadier General Mansur DanAli (rtd) has on Sunday donated 500 doses of vaccines to the people of Zamfara state being his personal support to end the dreaded cerebrospinal meningitis.

Speaking during launching ceremony of the vaccination exercise at 1 based Ammunition Depot Nigerian Army, Gusau said, the contribution was made through Nigerian Army with a view to strengthen the cordial relationship between army and the civilians living in the state.

General DanAli further stated that the dreaded cerebrospinal meningitis has led to many deaths and as an Indigene he has the obligation to support and compliment government efforts  to make the state free of  meningitis.

“Being a Minister, am concerned with the welfare of every Nigerian.  Every person has the right to live comfortably in every part of the country. The situation in Zamfara is pathetic and need the support of every one.

While condoling with the state government and families of those who lost their loved ones, he called on the people of the state   to put into practice the preventive measures given by the medical professionals.

Meanwhile, receiving the Minister at government house Gusau shortly after the vaccination exercise, the state Acting governor, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala, informed him that the state government has procured vaccines and drugs worth several millions of naira to curtail the spread of the disease.
