Two Nigerian students studying in Cyprus International University stabbed, one critically injured

Two Nigerian students studying in Cyprus International University were stabbed with one critically injured. This happened on Friday night (yesterday) around 8pm Cyprus time.

The student was in his room with his friend when one of his friends called him out to talk but which led to argument and before he could make attempts to defend himself, he was stabbed in the chest area with his friend. His friend who sustain minor injury called the ambulance. They were taken to the British Kolan hospital and Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital in Lefkosa.

According to a source who spoke to Herald Nigeria, the fight started between two Nigerian students believed to be fighting over a girl, according to him, “I and my freind were having a chat around here when we heard two guys shouting at each other and before we could attend to them, one of them had already stabbed the other and his friend who was trying to help him before he fled”.

The attacker is said to have escaped the scene of the attack. Two of them were later discharged and arrested by the police after their treatment.

Police are currently investigating the incident and also searching for three other people involved in the fight.
