Suspected gunmen abduct ex-Ondo council chairman

Unknown gunmen yesterday evening abducted the former chairman of Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, Dele Fagoriola.


He was reportedly seized by the gunmen at his farm in Iju, along Akure-Ikere road.

He was said to be inspecting his farm when the gunmen came and disappeared with him.

The farm located along Akure-Ikere road has however been surrounded by anti-riot policemen on the order of the state commissioner of Police, Gbenga Adeyanju.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the state police command, Femi Joseph, a Superintendent of Police (SP) also confirmed the incident.

He said Police officers have been deployed to the spot where the ex-council chairman was abducted with a view to arresting suspects in connection with the incident.

Joseph assured that the perpetrators of the devilish act would soon be arrested.
